Today the meetup held up Ron Paul signs at Elmwood Park Pavillion for the Nebraska Republican Pancake Breakfast. The crowd was nice and waved back at us. A few even said they supported Ron Paul. We handed out about a two dozen pieces of literature. Paul managed to talk to Sen. Hagel for awhile. Hagel said that he thought Ron Paul was a good man. However Paul was unable to get an endorsement.
At the Ralston parade the meetup ran out of flags in less than a 1/2 hour!! Little kids came running to grab flags. People were taken aback that the flags were free. They thanked us for this. After this some members watched the parade for awhile and stopped at a bar. The conversations were good and we managed to hand out some literature.
If anyone else who was there would like to give a brief summary that would be great.
I am hoping we can get an even better turnout tommorow at Jazz on the Green.

Oh . . . The bar! What a time! This bar was a small place with the feeling of the ages. You could see this bar has been serving Ralston for many a year. We spoke with at least 5 people who were sympathetic to our cause. Well, they might not know it themselves, but they agreed with RP's positions. We handed out literature with the blessing of the bartenders, well both of them took some too.
There was a 85 yr old woman who came here from Germany in the 1930's. She was well spoken and blunt. She told us how she started smoking at 12 yrs of age to curb her hunger.
I'm guessing not hunger from war but the drop in the value of the Deutschmark in the 30's.
She said President Reagan sent her a letter congratulating her on her 50 yrs as a naturalized citizen. She also said if the current President sent her one she would X it out and send it back. I felt that she saw what had happened to her country is happening here now, but not wanting to say it.
We have supporters! They just haven't found RP yet. So let's get out there and find them.

Well at first the event was really slow. We did not hand out much literature. We just concentrated on signs. Once the concert actually started though we found some people that were interested in Ron Paul. We managed to get some lively discussions going. I think we managed to convince some people. Ron Paul's strength is the lost Republicans. These guys don't support the war and are traditional conservatives. I talked to one of them and he got excited when I told about Ron Paul. Our event may have started slow but it ended on a high note. Ryan did a really good job gretting people. The jazz music was suprising to me. Reminded me of some jam bands a buddy of mine liked. Anyone else who attended should give their own account.
