We were talking about being here to handout literature and sign hold. It looks like it will draw many young and old who would be receptive to RP. Here are the particulars. Saturday 7/14 & Sunday 7/15 , 1pm - 9:30pm Envision the biggest party you've ever attended. Multiply attendance by 100 or even 1,000. Now add two full days of fun, awesome Christian bands, an exciting Family Fun Zone, world-class skateboarding, freestyle motocross, BMX demos and a huge Family Services area. That is the Luis Palau Heartland Festival! Scheduled to appear in this free, public event are Jeremy Camp, TobyMac, American Idol's Mandisa, Kirk Franklin, Matt Maher, Building 429, Heartland, Salvador, El Trio de Hoy and KJ52. Video superstars Bob & Larry from the VeggieTales film and video series will host the Family Fun Zone. For more information, please visit www.heartlandfestival.com. When: Saturday, July 14 through Sunday, July 15, 2007

Talked to Megan about this, I'm more interested in the Nebraskans for Peace rally and she didn't seem too interested in Luis Palau, but we both agree there will be a lot of people at the Luis Palau festival so it would be great if a few of our members could do a sign holding near there either saturday or sunday. If Cam, Jeff, Sean, or anyone else would like to pick a day (saturday the 14th or sunday the 15th) and a time (my guess is it will be busiest mid-late afternoon), you can organize this one.
Chris, the Luis Palau festival seems to be promoted by Christian groups, there will be some Christian rock bands there as well as a promotional thing for the Christian kids show Veggie Tales. Ending the drug war is probably not their biggest issue, unfortunately. Those types of flyers might go over better at the Nebraskans for Peace event though.

Well alright. I just remembered from when i skated. Vast majority pot heads. It would still be fun to go though. Ill plan for the peace festival and if enough people want to go to Luis Palau festival i will try to get a day off.

I would like to do something with this. Someone needs to contact the minister in the meetup group. It would give us some extra legitimacy. Is it a lot of Christian music? Cause Christian music sucks ass. What is the place like? I think we may have to concentrate on literature b/c they may not let us in with signs. I would really like to get at least 1/2 a dozen people to go. If people could just tell me if they wanted to go and what day they wanted that would be great.

I just read a KETV article on this event. 265+ NE and IA churches are pushing this event to their congregations. We are talking a major event with 20,000+ people. This will really get the word out.
So I propose that the entire group go down to the Nebraskans for Peace Rally. Then have another MeetUp Event on Sunday to go to Luis Palau.

I second Cam's idea. Meetup should be changed to reflect this. This should be done soon because people need time to plan for this stuff. I think we should carpool to Luis Palau. Then we can seperate into three groups. One can hold up signs outside. The other can hand out literature inside. The last group can put literature on windshields. This weekend is a great chance to spread Ron Paul's message. We have two high quality events to work with. Both groups have plenty of reasons to support Ron Paul. This will be challenging and I know that we are ready.

Luis Palau is just at the Qwest center, I don't think we need to carpool unless we decide to meet somewhere else first. If you need a ride I'm sure we can find someone to pick you up though.
Okay, so sunday July 15th we're going to do the sign holding by the Qwest center for Luis Palau.... what time should we meet there?

It starts at 1pm so around 12:30 I was thinking that since parking at Qwest cost $. We could meet on the southside of the downtown library. People could park for free then carpool over to Qwest and share parking costs. This way we will not have to walk a mile carrying signs, literature and the such. I will also bring my cooler with the water Sean bought. Unless the group uses it all before this event. In that case I'll buy some more.

Just saw a news story about this event. It is Gigantic. I thought it was just going to be inside the Qwest Center. There are stages, tents, skateboard ramps, and other stuff all over the Qwest Center grounds.
We will still meet at 12:30 on the south side of the downtown library (14th and Farnam). This way we can carpool to the Qwest Parking Garage (10th and Cass) and save some cash.
If anyone cannot make it to the library that early. We will be around 10th and Cass. Throughout the afternoon.
