Any one want to plan a weekly sign holding on a different corner each week. That way we can make sure different people in different parts of the city see us. We can also do one in CB like every other week, or monthly. I don't know share your thoughts.

We ought to do a sign holding in Council Bluffs at some point before August 10th. We can discuss this at the next meetup once we pick a date.

Here's my two cents. Doing this on a street corner is only useful if it's a MAJOR intersection with huge traffic. A better deal would be to make about ten really big-ass RP banners about 3' x 7' or larger and place them on interstate overpasses for viewing during the morning and evening rush hour drive times. What's key is MASS EXPOSURE! If anyone wants to discuss how to relatively easily set up a mini "production shop" to make banners, let me me know. Or you can go to the Ron Paul Revolution website at www.rescue-us.org/ronpaulrevolutionhome.htm, click on the HOW TO link and watch their video. We did it in Philadelphia, and it's easy. Cutting the coroplast is the labor-intensive part. Once those templates are done, you're ready to start producing signs like all get-out.

I would love to participate in this. I have thought about going out to hold a sign at 72nd and dodge on my own, on the boring afternoons. In the future, I will do it. I just need a nice sign. I can't meet this weekend, but I think we should plan a regular sign-holding place. The best areas I think are 72nd/90th & dodge, and the bridge over dodge near UNO. But to get to other parts of the city, good locations would be... 120th and center. I'm having trouble thinking of other places in omaha that are safe for us to stand. I wrote "google ron paul/you'll love him too!/ronpaul2008.com" on my back windshield. If you want people to hear about RP everywhere you drive, it might be fun to invest in some window paint! (my fiance says I'm gonna get keyed...)

I also have a fantasy of standing on a corner or median with a ron paul sign, and if people waiting at the stoplight are interested/supportive, writing "RonPaul2008.com" on their rear windshield.
I mean every time I hold signs, there are a few people driving who are super into it. I would have a window paint marker on hand and say, "while you are waiting for the green light, may I write ron paul's URL on your back window?"
maybe that's illegal. maybe I'd get run over. but if it worked it'd be sweet.

120th and center is an excellent place, so is the area near Gene Leahy Mall (like 14th and farnam if I remember right), but we should start focusing more on council bluffs soon.
And yeah, if you're doing a sign holding and you step off the curb without a crosswalk and walk signal, it's considered jaywalking and a $50 fine minimum, so we're pretty much limited to handing out flyers and bumper stickers to people in the lane by the curb if we want to do things legally.

You can only get in trouble if someone is there to enforce it. Any chance we could set up some banners or something for the bridges going from Ne to Iowa during rush hour and take them down after?
